MESH is a 3D printed lampshade and one of Rentaro's earliest explorations in digital fabrication.
The structure uses a mesh geometry to minimise material and weight — achieving rigidity through form rather than mass. Light passes through the small openings in the mesh, casting intricate patterns onto surrounding surfaces.
Produced using Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), a process that enables fine, complex structures that conventional 3D printing cannot achieve, the piece began as a test of the technology's potential for design.
